I'd heard about this one, but there is talk among other groups that this will eventually be raided like previous types of banking that offered near-complete privacy from the IRS.

Any comments?

If they are doing nothing illegal then why would they be raided?

There is a check cashing store where I get money orders -- they sell a Mastercard for a $20 a year fee. It does not require an SSN. It's a debit card, not credit card, that you deposit money into at the check cashing store. There is a $1 fee for deposits, a $1 fee for point of sale transactions, (grocery stores, Walmarts, etc.) and a $2 fee for withdrawls.

The only drawback to having that card is that you have to go to the check cashing store to deposit money. They have stores all over the U.S. though.

I don't think they would be selling it if was illegal, so I might go with that one. If I make deposits once a week, that's $4.00 a month + 2 or 3 withdrawls a month. Total cost for the card would be $10 a month. Kind of expensive, but there's a price for privacy!

If they are using FRNs at all then they will be raided.

Even if they are not using FRNs they can be raided. I agree with KT.

I know that it may be honorable intentions of the Liberty Dollar but, to access this--you need FRNs in trade.

I think we the people need to get gold and silver first and then trade in liberty dollars after that or along side of that.

Shelling out FRNs in lieu of Liberty Dollars seems to be a little dubious to me. But if everyone just bought gold and silver with their FRNs and then traded that for Liberty Dollars, then I can see an even trade.

Just my opinion--not gospel.

Jersee,

FRN's are notes of credit. They do have purchasing power. The holder of them had to do some form of labor or trade to obtain them. They are the property of the holder. The holder can exchange them for other property. Why the hang up about NORFED accepting them?

It seems to me that NORFED is doing what the Bankers did but in reverse. If you follow it to the end and Bernard actually did displace all FRNs with silver, then in a way, the FRB would be abolished. The bankers can be cooked just like frogs can be cooked.

The main point of NORFED is to get people talking about money. Ignorance of coin and currency is the number one reason things have gotten so far out of hand. I just can't think of anything negative about NORFED.

KT,

Just because your energy is tied up in FRNs doesn't mean that they will always be accepted. They are backed by faith not credit. They are debt instruments from the onset.

I understand the goal of NORFED and like I said, it appears their intentions are good--but if everyone turned in their FRNs and got gold and silver and traded those back and forth with liberty dollars, you have 2 strong forms of money in circulation and not just one.

Also, it would get FRNs off the street quicker and you would not put the power of money in one place---NORFED.

you would have options. coin currency or liberty dollars.

Doing it the other way only gives you one option--FRNs for liberty dollars. this is not very responsible.
