Contractor's licenses??
Akira, thanks for the link, I copied it and will print it off later, didn't have a chance to read it all but it looks good.
Sui Juris, the mayor is 72 or 73 years old and it is believed that he will not run for reelection in two years.
I agree with you on the economic surge that I believe will happen. We do have a beautiful city, and as Jersee said-"The air feels a lot crisper and smells a tad bit sweet". Valley City has a lot to offer, fishing, hunting, indoor ice (I am also a hockey parent) and now we have more freedom than most of the country. Anyone looking to move to a small community check us out. We can always use more freedom loving people here and anyone from Sui Juris would be an asset.

Rory, career politicians ALWAYS have something they are afraid to loose. Remember, he will want to protect his "legacy", whether or not he decides to run for office again...

Contractor's licenses??
hmmm... maybe he should think about making his legacy one of assisting the townspeople regain their power over the local government and protecting their rights.
Because there is one group out there that has demonstrated that is what they are going to do ... regardless of which side of the fence the Mayor falls to.

Contractor's licenses??
Way to go! Now try and repeal the liscensing of new home construction!
I really don't understand why I can't just chop down some trees and start building a log cabin on my own land without first being liscensed... which part specifically would be "illegal"? The Chopping? Hammering? Cutting? How many logs can I nail togeather before I am cited?
Say I nail togeather 45 logs and someone tattles on me and I am cited... Isn't there a remedy under the law to prove it as un-constitutional? And if I can do that, why then does the law exist?
Growing up in this era is insane... you are told that down is up, left is right, and what's right is wrong.

Smart-Aleck,
Check the downloads section for the "Land Patent" document. With rights asserted in the Land Patent or having "Allodial Title" -- your land would be free from all government administration... and you would be able to do whatever you want.

Contractor's licenses??
Rory,
I'm proud as hell of this and of you!!!
Although I believe my partner in crime Ice is slipping just a bit.
You see, the Ice that has mentored me and the Ice that I have come to know would have mentioned that the first thing "YOUR GUY" should do is encourage all of the townspeople to ascert their rights in the land patent now that he has their support and they trust and believe in him and your organization.
Also, the Ice I know would have said something like, "This would avoid "YOUR GUY" wasting his time on codes and permits. Now that you have a "GUY" in the position of influence and the mayor running scared....its really time to take back the town!!!!"
Also my main man Ice would highly encourage you to "Educate the people on land patents and land ownership. GIve a course to educate them and then at the end of the class hand out the forms for them to file. Even provide assistance in locating the abstract of their land at the county recorders office of deeds."
Oh yeah, then Ice would have topped it off by striking a nerve of patriotism by stating something like, "Truly take back the town and watch the economy flourish and put the defacto government back in its place. So don't have "YOUR GUY" combing books of codes and statutes that do not apply to land owners, that is a waste of his time and the Mayor will have him chasing his tail since he cannot unilaterally change codes and statutes. Power lies within the people as you have just witnessed."
Then I could see Ice putting that end all by saying something like, "educating and encouraging folks to do a land patent would put an end to the headache of permits and licensing altogether! This is more powerful than running for Mayor. If "YOUR GUY" pulls that off--he will be a shoe-in for Mayor since folks won't have to pay property taxes!"
THis is what I think the Ice I know would have said but this is just my opinion (and a viable one at that).
Anyone seen my buddy Ice? hahahahahahaaaaa
