Just for clarity, I have not intended to suggest that anyone even have a DL.

Re: Forms for Surrender.
Based on reports, State of Texas has one fill out a form at the DMV/DoR when surrending the license. In communication with agent of a DMV/DoR about surrending the license or getting a copy of the form associated they indicated that it would be necesary to come into a DMV office. I would tend toward not merely surrendering it but making it clear that if you say only appeared to willingly obtain one because the State actors are confusing things so out of duress you "played along".

suggestions?

I apologize if this may be in the wrong thread, but...I have a situation here. My son is 17, has a BC, has a SS# (me bad, didn't know of any of these issues until about 6 months ago), no drivers license, wants to get his drivers license to travel. I have explained some of the things that I have read here and on other sites, advise him not to 'apply' for a drivers license. He will be 18 in March. What should he do/not do? Any suggestions? Thankyou!

To function in what is left of a dying economy, it may be best that he gets the card and identifies himself correctly. However that depends upon the officer being honest later about the verbalization. Good luck with that.

You say he has a BC and SS#. In March he will be able to testify for himself. Meanwhile why do you testify against him? Why do you incriminate him and subject him to the IRC? In other words he does not have a SS# and BC until he says so - or until March, you testifying for your minor son. That is why you cannot just say, You already have that on record. They will always make you repeat it and check what they have on record that it is the same SS# you testify to.

That is difficult to wrap your mind around I know. And when you realize I am telling you the truth, you will feel less insulted. I got this from the SS Administration top branch manager himself and it took me six months to figure out what he said simply in plain English.

Regards,

David Merrill.

It seems the latest Supreme Court ruling changes the rules for LEOs:

YEP! If you are a UNITED STATES Citizen as apposed to a state citizen you have less and some very obscure rights.
