Very Nice!
Hey Raptor,
I believe congratulations are in order. And I hope you enjoy YOUR new bike.
Was the process to obtain the MSO difficult at all?

Thanks
And no, it was surprisingly easy. I walked in to sign the necessary paperwork, and told them I was taking it out of the United States, so I wasnt applying for a title in Michigan and needed just the MSO. (they asked where it was going out of curiousity and I said Canada, to avoid having to sit there and explain things for 2 hours) So... they dropped the cost of registration from the price, and signed over the MSO They even said "oh, so you wont need to fill this form out, and wont need insurance." They had to ask each other a few questions on procedure because the sales guy hadnt dealt with the situation before, but it was figured out in no time.
The funniest part was "Oh, you're paying in cash?!??" as I whip out a wad of FRN's. I guess "normal" people finance or whatever, i dunno. Glad I'm not normal.
And on the back of the MSO, it says:
"Each undersigned seller certifies to the best of his knowledge, information, and belief under penalty of law that the vehicle is new and has not been registered in this or any state at the time of delivery and the vehicle is not subject to any security interests other than those disclosed herein and warrant title to the vehicle. FOR VALUE RECIEVED I TRANSFER THE VEHICLE DESCRIBED ON THE FACE OF THIS CERTIFICATE TO:" ... then it has the name of the seller and purchaser and whatnot.

Since it establishes that the bike is in commerce, don't you think you should refuse the MSO for cause without dishonor, as being against the agreement of the parties? (you)
Just curious

I was reading a thread somewhere by someone quite knowledgeable, that you can file certified copies of your vehicle papers at the county recorder & then use the Book/Page # as your license plate #

I heard of a guy who made his UCC filing# as the plate# and the police reportedly don't hassle him as it's registered private property. He has a certificate of title where his strawman is listed as the lienholder, but he obviously has no registration. This was done for a car, though. Perhaps a similar thing can be done for a bike. Although one may rather keep the MSO, one would have all the liabilities as owner. With the above-described scenario one would have a secured interest in the bike/car sans the liabilities of ownership--in theory.
Congratulations.

You might want to consider setting up a trust & transfering true title.
give BT or I a holler. We are both in different organizations and are not in collusion, but the overall structuring we follow is the same, lest he incorporates more of the offshore concept

It doesnt say the bike itself is used for commerce, it says the bike was transferred to a new owner, so the sale of the bike is commerce, but the riding of it wouldnt be. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

Interesting... do you have the full report on this?
As it stands now, I made up a piece of paper the same size as a license plate with Sui Juris in the center, Not For Hire above that, and All Rights Reserved below it, and I'll just laminate it and mount it to something sturdy, and put it on the back of the bike. From a distance it looks like a license plate to attract a bit less attention, but it should get the point across.
