Traffic Stop

About a week ago, one my co-workers got pulled over for travelling too fast. He has been listening to the stuff I've been saying on the subject of being Sui Juris for a while now. I got him interested in Marc Stevens' DVD about a few months ago. Anyway, he says this is what happened.

Cop: License and registration please.

Friend: Why do you think I need a license to exercise my right to travel which is recognized by the Constitution. I don't feel like a need a license because I'm not transfering any commercial goods or anything, I'm not a taxi for hire, and I dont' have any passengers.

Cop: Asked again...License and registration please.

Friend: How come you feel like you even have jurisdiction over me other than that gun and badge? How'd you get that? I don't remember giving it to ya.

Cop: I stopped you on such and such road which is in the jurisdiction of xyz county.

Friend: Give me a legal explaination of what XYZ County is? What does that mean legally? What is it legally? I don't know what that even means.

Cop: That doesn't matter because you are in the STATE OF XYZ and my jurisdiction encompasses the whole STATE.

Friend: Well I don't know what the means either. Could you give me a legal defintion of what the STATE of XYZ is or what it even means? I mean is it the ground? I didn't see any lines or anything on the ground. I don't know what any of this has to do with my right to travel freely on the public roads. I mean you started explaining to me why you stopped me. I don't see how this applies to me. You haven't given me any answers on what the STATE even is.

Cop: (Looks puzzled)

Friend: Could you define license for me? I don't even understand that. I mean, how does it apply to me. I don't understand any of that.

Cop: (shakes his head and walks back to his car)

Friend: (expects backup to arrive and be taken away)

Cop: (Turns lights off and drives away)

Ok, he says that's pretty much it. He says he was ****ting bricks thinking "Oh crap, I'm gonna get an ass whippin now"....heh heh.

After it was all over he says he felt really good about it.

"It was a very pleasant feeling to see the cop looking frustrated and leave."

Thumbs up

What STATE did this detaining occur in? I am shocked! The uneducated, militant city OFFICERS in my STATE entered my truck and cuffed and pulled me out with "freeze plus P" pointed at my eyes for asking similar questions and taking a similar stance over a seatbelt statute.

Kudos go to your friend. He showed he was not an easy extortion target but I think the real credit should go to his guardian angel

All in all, a good story though. I would love to have been in the passenger seat.

Yeah, I was shocked myself. I would have expected something, like you described, to happen instead. I'm still kind of scratching my head about it really. He says it really happened though, so I figured I'd post it.

Legally Incompetent

Maybe the word about Marc's book is workings it's way around the executive branches standing army...

His favorite trick is to get the judge and DA to declare their own witness incompetent by mearly reading the alledged broken 'law' back in the form of a question...

If the officer is legally incompetent in court, how can he be legally competent when he wrote the ticket?

I'm more inclined to give the guardian angel the credit, also...

For HIS Glory,
Akira
