United States v. Deborah Davis

DENVER, 7 December 2005. Deborah Davis will not be prosecuted on charges related to her refusal to show ID on a public bus.

Deb's lawyer, ACLU volunteer attorney Gail Johnson, was informed shortly before noon today by the office of the US attorney in Denver of their decision not to prosecute.

A rally scheduled for this Friday morning in support of Deb's stand in favor of the Freedom to Travel will go ahead as planned. A victory ride on the route 100 RTD bus by Deb and some of her supporters will take place shortly thereafter.

I am not certain what it means when you have a blank link like this. However from a couple experiences it means that the Rocky Mountain News has just withdrawn the article from online viewing. I found the link at the "in the news" area of Deborah's site linked above.

Interesting.

Regards,

David Merrill.

P.S. I speculate that the US attorneys were upset at the big hooplah about them dropping charges. And I wonder how things are going at the Federal Center gates on that bus route? Mostly I am wondering why no more Rocky Mountain News? Understand I am just speculating around an at-the-moment blank news article.

Doors close on bus case 12/08/05

Woman boards bus again to protest ID rule 12/10/05

summary

It looks like we may get more tomorrow. It seems it would make more sense to route the bus around the Federal Center but RTD could use a van to take people onto the Federal Center from the gate.
