Secret database discovered!
Hi all,
By way of chance today I was speaking with a car dealership about registration. The lady asked me for my licence, and when I told her I had an agreement with the transport minister and wasn't required to have a licence or registration issued to me, she asked if she could call back.
I faxed her the agreement, and when she called, she said "Oh..you're one of them, that means you go onto the "other" database that no-one knows about!????
She explained that she used to work at the transport dept, and they have two completly seperate databases, one for the public, and ...a secret one.
So I said, confidently, that sounds right...
She said, "I saw that you signed as agent, and wondered what that was..." But I need you to call the transport office because I need something from you to release this vehicle.."
So I called the transport dept, and spoke to them, and explained the situation, and the lady said, OK, what's your new number plate?
So I told her...and explained it's a private plate, not required for registration. She said, that's fine, and called the dealer back for me...
So what just happenned?
Now the dealer, the transport office, and the minister, have a record of my exemption and use of privately controlled plates, which they now have recorded on their secret database....
Hmmmmmmm....

I believe the database is called SCOPE.
I cannot get confirmation on that, but I just had a friend email me about it, and he says it is the database that all of the Diplomats go into.
Please do post your material.

Hi there,
I'll include the body of the letter here, this is the end result of a Notary Protest style offer, and each time I received a confirmation and signature from their office of receipt.
I'm meeting the dealer again tomorrow to arrange payment for an automobile, so I'll ask a few more questions then to the lady who used to work there. She did say that agents and other people who "sneak around" use it.
Anyway, here's a sanitised scan of the letter, and thanks for the support.

More games
Okay...
Further to this story, I had a call today from the transport office to say that they needed my client number. After some discussion about me not needing one, they explained that in order to purchase and release a new car, they need to put plates on it, under my client number.
This, she explained is the number they keep on file from the VERY FIRST TIME you ever registered a vehicle..and identifies you. We're talking 20 years ago, and I haven't been in this STATE for 14 years!
I told her about the agreement, and that I wasn't required to have a licence or registration, and she said that's fine, whatever your agreement with the transport minister is.
She said I need to return THEIR plates and rego sticker for a refund, and after I pick up the new car from the dealer I can take off those plates and put my own private ones on.
She then enquired if I would be driving the "vehicle" on public roads or CROWN land....
I said to her, "I am merely journeying in my private automobile on the common ways of the land.."
So the point is here, that the company (dealer), in order to comply with govt and transport regulations cannot release a vehicle from it's yard without it having some kind of registration, but what happens after that, seems to be my private business.
I think I'll have to send an addendum letter defining more clearly "common ways of the land" to include roads, freeways, streets, etc...and perhaps an indemnity bond for their use.
I don't want to get caught out by any word games they might employ later to void the contract.
More later once I pick up the car...and take their plates back.

So how did you satisfy the obligation? (type of instrument / scrubbed version?)
Seems we are on the same path. I am at the point of filing a civil claim.

Obligation
Hey Powder,
Indeed!
By obligation, do you mean issue of an indemnity bond or the like to cover any liability?
