Buying a motorcycle, can I avoid sales tax?

I'm buying a new Yamaha YZF-R6, and getting the MSO from them(yaaay!, lol), but I was wondering if I still have to pay sales tax according to the "law". Is there any way of keeping my $500 rather than feeding the tumor in Lansing? I have a "Sales and Use Tax Exemption Certificate" from Johnny Liberty, can that be used for this?

What is involved in getting the MSO? Do you just simply ask for it?

Thanks Fazer

Yes, you just ask for it. Sometimes you have to tell them you are moving it outside the United States.

I am not sure about a new motorcycle but I bought mine, and my truck, used and convinced the sellers to donate them instead of selling and I paid $0.00 in sales tax. Donating is perfectly legal in Louisiana and not just between family.

I never buy anything new, because of the instant devaluation. But if true ownership through the MSO is desired, then buying new is your only option, unless you build it yourself.

Yes, I usually avoid buying new as well. But motorcycles have very little depreciation and dont have a huge price, and the bike I wanted in the color I wanted is new for '05, so I decided to try the MSO concept, so when my organization of sovereign free men talk to people about sovereignty, we have one more facet covered and proven. After this, we just need a proper Land Patent and we should be set to talk to our hearts content with first person experience. I prefer to be able to say "I dont have a license, I dont have insurance, I dont use license plates, I dont have a social security number, I dont register my automobiles, I can drill a damn oil well on my land.... and I'm breaking NO laws." Its just better than "I've heard of a guy who..."
