INFO NEEDED URGENTLY RE: W-4's
I'm having trouble at my new job, I tried to not file a w-4 but I needed the job so I decided not to push my luck so I filed exempt, all rights reserved.
Now they are saying that they cannot accept it exempt. I need the code that states that 'withholding agents' duties are not to review the information on a w-4 but to simply provide the form and collect it.
I've been working 2 1/2 weeks and now they are saying they can't pay me if I don't provide the form, which I know is false but I am not quite sure how to tell them they are wrong and need to follow what is in the code.
Also if anyone recalls where it says that any IRS publication may not necessarily be in line with code and that the code supercedes any non-code publication, that'd be great ammo.
Any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks for the replies. I would have done the research myself, and I tried, but I'm at work and don't have the time for an issue that is time sensitive. The links provided have been informative.

The troubles at your new job are going to be the least of your worries by filing an exempt w-4.
If they do eventually honor your request, you've labeled yourself a trouble-maker already. After a year or two, when they get contacted by Big-brother,
they're going to be forced to honor a levy on your wages.
You will then spend the most productive years of your life in a futile, exhausting, expensive battle that you will eventually LOSE.
Unless you want to cut grass, clean pools or wash cars for cash the rest of your life, enjoy what freedoms you have to better yourself and those around you.
If you want to fight the system, do it by indirect means. But in the mean-time, don't red-flag yourself for termination.

Could you please expand and elaborate what do you mean by indirect means?
Also, if I may, I would have another question for you.
In another thread you mentioned that you had a painful experience, could you please relate it to me so I will learn from your experience and do not fall into the same situation you did?
Thank you,
Yours truly,

I guess by indirect means I mean not doing anything thay doesn't involve not paying.
Painfull experience #1. 1998 conviction for felony income-tax evasion
Painful experience #2. $257,000 in back taxes, interest and penalties
How did I achieve this? By listening to morons who advocate filing "0" returns, not filing , submitting exempt w-4's, etc., etc., etc., etc., all because they WRONGFULLY beleive that the law doesn't apply to them or that the law doesn't exist, or that they're not a US citizen, or that the constitution has been usurped by aliens, that were actually living in "the matrix", etc., etc., etc.,
Happy hour at the Kool-aid bar, now open!!!!!!!!!!

Now this is the kind of crap I have been talking about regarding your posts. Just becasue you have been hoodwinked into believing there is a "law" requiring a private American to pay an "income tax" does not mean one exists. Could you document your proof for us please? I suppose you had an attorney when you were convicted as well? Have you done any research to support the position you take now? If so please share with the rest of us. Just because a bunch of Quatloos(ers) say so does not make it so. I have cases that say you are wrong.
I have filed a Commercial Affidavit (Statement in lieu of 1040) now for some years and have never even so much as received a frivolous penalty letter for it. Give me a frigging break!! Talk about being bainwashed!!

Weis, I read that case. It doesn't mention W-4s. It is also a case which the IRS won.
I'm not sure of its relevance to this thread. Am I missing something?

Wiat a minute, on another thread you said you didn't even have a job. Why are you even bothering with a statement in leiu of 1040 if you have no income, no wages, no house, no brain to wash?
