federal law and labor

Title 15 U.S.C. § 17 Anti-trust laws... ...
The labor of a human being is not a commodity or article of commerce...

And if Congress passed a law stating that the Sun revolves around the Earth ... then of course it must be true.

And yet, if labor is not a commodity or article of commerce, that means that Congress can't regulate labor. Somehow, I don't think they REALLY think it is not an article of commerce ... because they sure do have all kinds of laws and regulations related to labor ... and Congress does have the power to regulate interstate commerce.

Congress made a statement in the context of the antitrust laws ... and it should be read in that context.

Since when is the labor of a private employee working in one of the 50 independent states of the union interstate commerce? Seems to me it is intrastate commerce and the federal government and congress lack jurisdiction to regulate intrastate commerce. Is it not a contract within state jurisdiction and not federal?
