Zero Returns

A friend here at work has just watched "The 861 Evidence" video and has decided to file a zero return. I have heard bad things about filing these but I don't have any info on it really. Have any of you filed zero returns? If so, what was the result?

KT

I kind of figured he was headed the wrong way. Thanks for the input. Could you relate your story so he could read it?

I remember talking to Barton Buhtz who said that he had tried it and found that it was not the way to go.

Thanks,

KT

First of all, a 1040's OMB number does not line up with being a valid return in the first place.Secondly, the minute you sign one, you are legally roped into their jurisdiction. Once that happens, this statutory ball starts rolling downhill toward you. This endless chain of letters & responses ensues. What they do is box you in to try to get you to go to Tax Court, which is the crux of my study right now. I am currently trying to avoid going to Tax Court right now.

Right, the only form with a valid OMB# is form 2555. I'm telling him to educate himself more before he decides to do anything. That video has him all fired up though.

What is your strategy for staying out of Tax Court?

So what do you guys think of Ken G's IRS class tapes? They can all be viewed on line at showmethelaw.net. He goes through all the forms line by line and talks about the 0 return and 1040X and other forms and letters. I found it to be interesting and I learned a few things, although it took me several weeks to view all his classes.

I am not familiar with his stuff. I'll have to surf on over and check it out. Thanks

Are you familiar with the stuff at Teamlaw.org? I hear that it is suppose to be effective too.

Zero Returns

I'm in the same boat; I filed my first tax return last year (darnit!!!) and I want to get out of the system/stop filing. I'll check out teamlaw.org, is there anything else that I should read? What do I do? Do I just stop filing and wait for the IRS to contact me, or do I take some decisive action---are there forms to file, etc?
