Antiquers beware---FTB is on to you

An age-old problem

By Jim Sanders -- Sacramento Bee Capitol Bureau

Next time you head out for an afternoon of antiquing, consider this.

The state loses out on roughly $6.5 billion a year in revenues because of tax scofflaws who either underreport their income, underpay taxes or deduct more than they are owed, according to a study by the state Franchise Tax Board.

One of the biggest offenders? Those dusty, musty shops full of one-man's-treasures. Among sole proprietors, the report found, antique dealers were the most prone to blow off paying or underreporting their taxes. Restaurants, used-car dealers, auto-repair businesses and landscaping firms were next in line.

Oh...my...God.

Say it ain't so. How ever will the States survive without the citizenry paying their fair-share? Ungrateful, selfish bastards, cheating their governments out of the money it so needs and deserves. Oh, those evil persons should be shot, I tell you. Shot!

Speaking of "Cheaters"... isn't the State cheating when they have all that money and cry to the citizens about the "budget deficits"... (see the CAFR).

Will the sheeple ever wake up?

Why don't they use that money? It's sitting there doing nothing. Not that it will get CA out of its mess, but it's something.

I think the point is to make things "appear" so bad that everyone will have to "work together" to get us out of the "crisis"... that's when everyone really starts working for the gov.!! And then of course... you'll have those "genius" scientists talking about how they found out why some people are "bad" (DNA stuff) and we'll have to start eliminating the "bad"... and then...

Well, you get the idea...
