how do I write of inflation

Say, I am a FRN hoarder and have 100k in a checking account. That's like 8k lost to inflation this year alone. Is it deductable?
If not, why own FRNs?

Not that I feel there is anything stable about FRNs; but I hear the Justices of the Supreme Court and federal judges have demanded a pay increase upon the Constitutional requirement that their pay never be diminished. The argument that inflation is diminishing their pay won a big pay raise!
