I've heard many try to get their employer to change the W2 information to show 0 under taxable wages. I'm thinking most won't bother.
On the KenG IRS videos(
LINK), he mentions making an affidavit stating that you received no taxable income, which would then invalidate the W2 information. It stands as truth unless rebutted. Someone asked him about sending it to the employer. He said that you can, but it isn't necessary. Just do the affidavit, then make it available to the IRS.
I guess this ties in somewhat with the commercial affidavit that some are sending to the IRS in lieu of a tax return.
