w-8 form

I recently was told by a bank representitive that they could open an account for me using a w-8 form.

This is a form for a non-resident alien with respect to the U.S. jurisdiction. No SSN is needed, and in fact if you have a SSN, you cannot use this form legally.

I did a little research and it looks like this is the way to go. I can also file a w-8 with my employer... non-resident aliens are not subject to taxes except when doing business inside the U.S. jurisdiction.

Has anyone had experience with filing w-8's or no more information as to why I would or would not use it.

I think it was the famguardian.org site that said to use a w-8BEN form, not the normal one.

Do more research first. We don't want to see you get into trouble...

Do you have a link to a W-8 form? I would like to see what one looks like. It sounds interesting.

I dont think its a matter of actually filling a form out. I would think, and this is why I havent done it at work yet. Is that you will probably have to edjucate your employer first before traveling down that path. I know its not your job to, but sometimes I think it might just save time to say.. here you go.. here is the form AND documentation that backs it up.

THEN if they give you grief, then you can tell them about how your within every right to offer this form to them...

Just an opinion to try and save headaches.. remember most employers have no idea about the TRUE tax codes and how they are fraudulant as they stand...

If you spend some time at the familyguardian web site you will find that there is documentation to give to your employer that explains the law... and it goes with the w-8.

Your concern has already been addressed.

<font color=purple>[b]I'm still wrestling with whether or not to abolish the SS#. I've studied Family Guardian for over a year & know the drill & was wondering how many of you have terminated the SS#.

verry interesting stuff; so basically a man or woman who has expatriated out of the us and into the usa republic and has sent in a notice of revocation of social security application or whatever would be LAWFULLY using the substitute w-8 form. any comments on that?
