Children without ssn
Just a post of cheerfulness here.
I have a three year old daughter, no SSN, no real records.
I also have several friends with children.& About 10 kids in all, no SSN. All homeschooled. It seems I'm meeting more and more people every year that are going this route.
All these kids are about the same age.& I can't wait for the day when these kids are teenagers and some poor b<SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA">ureaucrat or state agent&comes in contact&with these kids, especially in a group. I hope I'm around for the comedy.</SPAN>

Re:Children without ssn
Just because a parent has never applied for a SSN does not mean one has not been established by BB. I have heard cases of people who have children and think that by not getting a birth certificate or applying for a SSN, none exists.... but they filed with the IRS and claimed the children as exemptions.
And what do you know - after checking, it was discovered that SSNs had been assigned!
So just a work of caution.... almost any contact with BB re that identifies a child with no SSN assigned will most certianly result in that child being assigned a SSN.
Makes me sick...

I have 2 kids (5 & 2) w/o ssn. I have not claimed them as dependants either. My question is what does BB stand for?

Re:Children without ssn
geez, i dont remember off hand where i have it,but i have a file which explains how a child is assigned a social security number from the certificate of live birth even if the parent doesnt apply for one, and then when the child or parent applies, social security goes into the file and assigns the number they have set aside. I dont know if thats true, but thats what i read.

Re:Children without ssn
So, I guess the key is to just leave the hospital with your child and make no mention of what you want to name him or her to anyone except a notary; for when you want to document your child's name, place of birth, time, date, etc...
If BB has no name--they can't steal.

Re:Children without ssn
That is exactly right!& Don't name your child until you are well away from the hospital!!

Re:Children without ssn
I had a friend that didn't name her child at the hospital simply because her and her husband couldn't agree on a name.& This was before I knew about the true nature of BB.& I remember her telling me that she wished that the hospital would stop calling her and asking what the name was.& My sister was also telling me that when she had a baby they made a mistake on the application for the SSN, she said that they called her twice a day until she sent in the right paperwork.& Now we all know why they are like that.
Also, I wonder if you leave the hospital without filling out the birth certificate if they would issue a SSN with the name "BABY BIRL SOANDSO"& they could use the parents last name and the appropriate date of birth and whatnot.
Just thinking out loud.

Montana,
Actually, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. Lie and make up a name but, do not call the child by the made up name. Fi BB wants a name--then give them one. Who says it has to be your private property that you gave to your child?
All of this could be avoided if they were just honest with folks! This makes me sick to think about them trying to steal children before they can even defend themselves. If anything, we should be outraged about this rather than fictious debts that we have to fight. Sorry about the rant!!!
