So i filed my 04 taxes, I owe 8k. Will they just confiscate all refunds due me in the future untill paid or throw me in jail?

LOL! No, you can make payments. They are pretty easy to work with if you don't piss them off.

You may be able to do an Offer in Compromise and have the total lowered.

If I remember right, Offer in Compromise can only be done for current year, and if you don't have any outstanding balance form previous years.

Usually when you owe, you can set up a payment plan. They will add interest but they will do it.

Or you could send them a blank 1040, a letter giving them power of attorney and tell them you will sign the assessment so long as they sign it under penalty of purgury.

Like that will happen. Anyway, nice idea.
