Need help with back property taxes

Due to financial set backs, I have been unable to pay my property tax the last two years and fear foreclosure could be coming.

Is there any kind of solution, protection or remedy for delinquent property taxes? I see various solutions put forth for income tax and other debts, but I haven't found anything regarding property taxes.

What can I do?

Call your regional tax collector/treasurer first. There should be a period of redemption for your unsecured property taxes. For example, in my county once a property has been delinquent for 5 years the tax collector will auction it off at an annual "tax sale" to pay the balance. Anytime up until the day before the sale, the owners may pay the back-taxes and redeem the property.

There are other things that can happen involving tax certificates, but that's not entirely within the scope of your question.
