Employer Accepted "w4t" in place of Old W-4

Just wanted to share with every one.

No SS# or any thing!

Being able to chat with the accounting people is a perk of working for a small company

Has Any one else had success with this approach?

I jdog,

Its a handy document that can be used to replace/retract your w4 or any other tax type contract.

http://thrashnet.net/images/NO_SSN/w-4t.pdf <( off my server)

Its also in the members only DL area under tax/no_ss

Without Prejudice.
Better yet, give a W-8 or substitute form from the outset.

The w4t is usable from the get go as just a contract absolving the company of any liability. What is a w-8? Similar i would assume?

Edit: Ah w-8ben? interesting

Yes your status would need to jibe. But a W-8 or similar form would exempt you from wittholding and assert foreign status.

For you or to you? If you are talking 1099 then you arent talking about 'employement'. 1099s are not for employment situations in United States. W-2s, W-4s are in that realm.

In a contract situation unless you gave then authority to act on your behalf, how could they submit a 1099 for you? W-8 or substitute form can be given in lieu of a 1099 if the circumstances warrant. If you are receiving income in United States then perhaps a 1099 is appropriate.

If the payments are made from US to a US-foreign entity or person I figure the W-8s should be suitable.

While this is certainly cool, only time will tell

remember that each situation is different what may work in one situation may not work in another

Any one here know quickbooks? Apperantly it requires numbers other than 000-00-0000 in the SSN field, considering just going with 722-99-9999 or somthing like that... Damn computers
