As far as FRNs go, any dispute about them is a cause with agents of a foreign state if you are a man on the land. If you are a man on the land, then you are a criminal for endorsing FRNs. It is pretty simple but understanding this you could go to the county clerk (Motor Vehicle Registration) and simply tell them that your cars have absolutely no dollar value. They will refuse to renew your tags because there is no tax on no dollar value. Remove your tags and simply say that to the police officer and bring the county clerk and the deputy into any hearings that ensue.

David, I visualized a scenario using the response you presented and realize that in certain situations the DMV will utilize the Blue Book to establish the value for a year, make and model of a car based upon the condition of it (of course, not understanding that FRN's have no value).

So I am curious how you would deal with a "Customer Service" Representative in the event they used that as the basis to establish a value for the auto.

They will assess the tax then at the counter (in this hypothetical scenario). You simply remind them that the car has no dollar value - instead of paying the tax.

That works for any script imaginable. It just comes back to reminding them that the car has no dollar value. You want to get the tags so that you do not get stopped and the like; the car has no dollar value. Basically it is the concept that you have the right to be heard and that testimony is greater than any Blue Book testifying for you. Or in other words reiterated, since you understand the value of FRNs, the car has no dollar value to you and you are the highest testimony about your car's value.

I heard this works from somebody who did it. But I am not sure I remember the consequences. It seemed as though he got a paper telling him he could not register the car and he would show that to police pulling him over for no tags.

Regards,

David Merrill.
