Smile Rights to Travel

I was wandering what you guys think about if people have the right to walk down a shoulder on the interstate(NOT HitchHiking). I am a huge hiker and I cant always get to the forest, so the city it is. I thank you for any help.
Im tired of getting booted off the hwy by those blinking cars and big sunglasses.

You do not tell us what state you are in so it is impossible to give you an accurate answer. Why dont you go to your state statutes and find out for yourself.

Chapter 8.--AUTOMOBILES AND OTHER VEHICLES
Article 15.--UNIFORM ACT REGULATING TRAFFIC; RULES OF THE ROAD

8-1537. Same; use of roadways. (a) Where a sidewalk is provided and its use is practicable, it shall be unlawful for any pedestrian to walk along and upon an adjacent roadway.

(b) Where a sidewalk is not available, any pedestrian walking along and upon a highway shall walk only on a shoulder, as far as practicable from the edge of the roadway.

(c) Where neither a sidewalk nor a shoulder is available, any pedestrian walking along and upon a highway shall walk as near as practicable to an outside edge of the roadway, and, if on a two-way roadway, shall walk only on the left side of the roadway.

(d) Except as otherwise provided in this article, any pedestrian upon a roadway shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles upon the roadway.

History: L. 1974, ch. 33, § 8-1537; July 1.

Walking on the side so cars flow in the opposite direction of where you are going is smart because you can see them and get out of their way a lot faster if they swerve. When you walk with their flow, you have to keep turning around and looking. Also, the grass far off the shoulder isn't necessarily on the highway. Note the specific reference to 'pedestrian'.
