tickets in Idaho

I wonder if we're having an impact. Not sure what this is about but I've been informed that they won't let you sign a traffic ticket in Idaho any more. Anyone have an idea what they are up to?

Sounds like another way to streamline the process.

The photo radar and photo red light camera operations don't take a signature either.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Code Enforcement Trolls just begin to send tickets in the mail.

Sending them in the mail is exactly how they do in DC and Maryland. The offenses include speeding and running red lights. Since the photos are no good to prove who was behind the wheel, the owner of the car is responsible for paying the fine (since the offending driver couldn't be proven, the penalty was limited to monetary fines and not points).

In DC these were used for running red lights .... but someone challenged the system! It turns out that one of the cameras was set up (not by cops but by a private contractor) pointing not at a bona fide intersection with a red light but half a block away at the exit of a parking lot, so it was counting cars coming out of the lot into the street as if they had run the red light. When this was raised in court the city had to send refunds to more than a hundred people.

Thanks for this post. With all this automation it was only a matter of time before something like this was bound to occur.
