"An information charging the driving of a motor vehicle upon a public highway without a driver's license charges no offense, as there is no such license as a driver's license known to the law." Keith Brooks v. State, 158 Tex. Crim. 546; 258 S.W. 2d 317

"There being no such license as a "driver's" license known to the law, it follows that the information, in charging the driving of a motor vehicle upon a highway without such a license, charges no offense." W. Lee Hassell v. The State, 149 Tex. Crim. 333; 194 S.W. 2d 400

The Texas courts are sort of anal about the usage of Texas legal terminology on this point. The Texas DL is consistently called, in the Texas statutes and code, a Motor Vehicle Operator's Permit. If the accusation in these cases had used the proper nomenclature, instead of saying "Driver's License", you would not have these decisions.
My point being that, yes, Texas does have a DL, just don't call it that.

That's why when googling, "Texas Motor Vehicle Operator's Permit" only two hits come up and one of those hits is the Texas DMV
that calls it a Driver's License.
Also then, why would people get charged for such as the cases indicate?

IIRC, the court was scolding Texas cops for writing out tickets that mentioned "driver's license" when that is not the term used in Texas law. That was really the only point of the comments quoted. The courts were willing to spin the cops' wheels until they used the right terminology.

Someone starts this thread with quotations that the Texas courts say that Texas does not issued "Drivers Licenses', and someone else finally comes up with some instructions posted by Texas courts for pro-se litigants that refer to Drivers Licenses, and somehow I'm to blame.

I'll take the blame for that one.
And unless you show some proof you can take the blame for saying the Texas courts call them, "Texas Motor Vehicle Operator's Permit".
