Hearing Officer will not let me have trial for expired meter citation!

Hello,

I had originally asked some questions about this matter in another thread but I went to the government center today and an interesting thing happened...

I originally received a citation on my Dad's personal conveyance on NYE '07 for an expired meter so I went to schedule a trial today. After waiting for a hearing officer I spoke with him a little and he said he would reduce the fine from $34 to $15 but I told him I wanted to take it to trial. He immediately started talking about the costs involved with a trial and how $15 was a good deal, I then asked him to just dismiss the entire thing. When he asked me why I told him "you're right we shouldn't waste the courts money."

He was not going to go for it so I asked for a trial... then he looked in his computer and said "Oh, I see here the ticket is for your Dad's car so he has to come down and do it." I told him that he was going to be giving me the car and inquired about having the ticket switched over to which I was told that it had to be changed before the citation was given. I inquired about a power of attourney and being his agent and councel, etc etc... but he was not going for it.

This presents an interesting issue now. My Dad has no clue about the court system and would never stand a chance against them, what are my options here?

I was thinking to create a bill of sale for the day when my Dad first gave me the car, I thought I saw something on the courts website about having a ticket reassigned. Otherwise I was thinking about a POA or something similar which will allow me to act on his behalf.

ANY SUGGESTIONS ???

If there are no points involved or additional insurance surcharges, pay the $15 and fight another day. Due to dear old Dad, this one isnt worth fighting. Part of wisdom is picking and choosing your battles.

I don't have $15 for them, all I had was a Morgan silver dollar in my pocket. Also, since I left that $15 offer is not on the table anymore either. I guess I am more interested in buying food than paying extortion money.

I thought possession was 9/10 of the law, the conveyance was in my possession and under my control.
