Re:Judge forcing the use of SSN for Driver's License
Good story.&
The trick to driving without a driver's&license is to never do anything that&would cause the police to stop you. I was listening to the constitutional videos on this site and truly believe in what Badnek(sp?) said.& Rights and&responsibility go hand-in-hand.& If you want the right to drive, be responsible and don't speed.& Even if you think the speeding laws are wrong, don't speed.& Having rights doesn't mean you can do whatever you want.

Congress deliberately failed to codify this statute in Title 5 of the United States Code. You will find it embedded at the end of the historical notes within the Privacy Act. When a government employee was sued for violating this Act, he asserted ignorance of the law as his defense. The court upheld this defense, thus creating an important exception to the general rule that ignorance of the law is no excuse. My reading of this decision is that the court was giving silent judicial notice to the fact that Congress actually "hid" the law; thus, the court's holding did not really overturn the maxim (ignorance is not excuse); it merely recognized that fraud vitiates everything, even the most solemn promises. I have taken this statute and reduced it down to the size of a standard credit card. Then, I laminated it in plastic and saved it in my wallet. Later, I gave it away to an attendee of one of Lynne Meredith's seminars; the attendee was mostly incredulous that such a law even existed. It is very easy to make another one. I prefer to take a photocopy right out of the law books, and to laminate that photocopy. Try it! It is always very powerful to witness these laws yourself, at the local county law library. Take this email message down to the reference librarian, and see if s/he can locate it for you. The Privacy Act can be found in the reference volume which lists statutes by name. Good luck!

That link will take you to the privacy act and yes, almost at the very bottom, is the "forgotten" law.&

Re:Judge forcing the use of SSN for Driver's License
Where they driving or traveling?
Who is the damaged party?
Where are the two competent witnesses?
Can they verify the complaint?
Did the prosecutor testify?
Oh, so many questions they could ask....

Re:Judge forcing the use of SSN for Driver's License
All,
When I first saw this article&I pointed out (in a local legal group)&that the case could have been handled as those successess that we have seen from our members... instead, they did what?... oh yeah... that's right... they HIRED AN ATTORNEY!!
Good grief!!
I pointed out the issues raised by Jerseee ... it should never have gone beyond traffic court ... and there should have been a success, not a loss.

Re:Judge forcing the use of SSN for Driver's License
Tora, you stated to not do anything that would get the police to pull you over. Im gonna relay a story to you. I dont mean to offend anyone with this statement but im a Moor ( so called black man). Ive been pulled over numerous times when i KNOW the color of my skin was my offense. Back around 1991 i actually had a police officer in Atlanta follow me down a main road, thru a neighborhood i tried to go thru to evade him tailing me, and i eventually pulled over into a 7 eleven convenience store and walked inside. He followed me inside the store and DOWN A AISLE!!!&Im kinda arogant when it comes to my rights so i walked up to him and looked at his badge number and read it out loud to him, then i asked him where his police chief's office was. He then walked out the store and left me alone. I could tell you guys numerous cases of blatent racism&with cops hiding behind the badge and using it to&vent their discrimination. Ive had other cases just as worse if not worse than that. At the time i had a brand new vehicle with customized wheels and a cell phone antenna sticking out the rear window. Guess he thought he would racial profile me. The point of all this is you CANNOT run from these guys no matter what you do. I know white guys get pulled over for crap too. Its all about the fact they got the guns, the judge and the jail on their side.
