Speeding ticket in Canada

Hi, I am relatively new to this site, so please bare with me. I received a speeding ticket not too long ago. I am to respond to it between July 15-25. I live in Manitoba, Canada. I have heard of didfferent ways to deal with this, but I was wondering if anyone has some insight for me? Should I plead not guilty and get a court date to defend myself... or should I tell the magistrate that the corporate entity (that received the speeding ticket) is not me? OR....? I appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

Well, is there a difference between driving as a "right" and driving as a "privilege"? What "rights" do you have and how are they imposed upon in this situation?

Back it all up with case law and file a motion to dismiss based upon those facts.

But, a speeding ticket isn't worth all this trouble. Why put yourself into a position that you are not yet ready to deal with? Pick and choose your battles wisely. For the time being you should probably ease up on the accelerator.

Speeding ticket in Canada

Just an update... I went to the magistrate today. I told her that the name on the ticket was not me. She asked to see my driver's license (I didn't show her that), at which point I told her that I was not the ALL CAPS name. I then started to spell my name "capital D lower case A ..." I only finished my first name and she seemed to know where I was going with this. She quickly replied that she could not void the ticket because the officer spelled my name in ALL CAPS, and I would need to set a court date. Her response was so quick, that I am sure she had been advised before on how to handle this. I guess I will just wait for the court date to be mailed to me and then return it for reasons of fraud. I would prefer not to actually go to court, as it will be in a city that is 7 hours away (which is where I received the ticket). But if I must, I will make the most of it. It is not really a city but a town in Northern Manitoba. I'm sure the judge there will be suprised I actually came and what I have to say!
