"Registered Travel Program"

I'm just now watching the Tom Ridge press conference talking about the pilot program called Registered Travel Program. Hmm... Registered.

Apparently, not only is this to be "more safe", but also to help people bypass the normal screening program. I wonder if all of that extra screening was to give people a desire for something simpler, like this.

Biometrics are being used, including fingerprints and iris scans. Of course, it's all voluntary now. How much do you want to wager that it will be mandatory some time in the future?

I'm also sure that to sign up for the program, you'll have to fill out a questionaire, one of which will surely be yet another place to declare that you are a U.S. Citizen.

Right now, the records will be cross examined with law enforcement and terrorist lists, but how long until they share it with Tax agencies and debt collectors, or the dead-beat dad program?

Oh, they they just mentioned sharing the biometric info that will soon be embedded in passports with a global database system. A collective effort of all the countries of the world.

We are witnessing history here. I wonder how many will realize it before it is too late?
