Hi sand! I'm going to do my filing in the next month or so (after I get my copyright done), and I'm also in Georgia, but was born in Tennessee. I was told that I should do it in the birth state first, but others said that it doesn't really matter, just get it done somewhere. This guy told me that if his state didn't take his filing that he'd do it in Texas if need be, since they take just about any filing.

As for Georgia, I think the process is a little different there. Didn't you have to file with the Court Clerk instead of the SoS?

Did you get any grief because the names where spelled the same (not withstanding the capitalization?)

I'm just curious of what I can expect when I go to file in Georgia. I think I'll file here first, and only do Tennessee later, if need be.

Thanks!

Re:Filing requirements

& Rush,

Actually, I had the paperwork done for me and I mailed it in.& I sent in 4 copies of everything.& They were very quick w/no problems.& I sent it there because the person who did it for me has done it for quite a few peeps and GA was the state of choice.& I didn't question them&about why.& They did say GA had never given any problem.&

From what I am hearing, I&need to&file in my birth state as well.& At least I don't have real estate that I have to worry about.& I have gathered that can also make a difference.

I do not think it makes much difference where you file first, do what is most convenient to you.

As to what to expect in Georgia; you&can file with the Clerk of Superior Court, Civil Collections, Berrien County. You should receive no problems... and they are fast.

You can file in your birth state later if you like. Some people say this is a must, others disagree. But common sense says "rather safe than sorry." Judge for yourself.

If so, there are no absolutes, and the only logical conclusion is that reality, truth, and right and wrong are determined arbitrarily on a daily basis by those with the most power, guns, and money, and the rest of us can choose to run, fight, or be their slaves.

Re:Filing requirements

sand,

Any possibility that you and I could communicate offline about this third party guy who helped you out? Maybe you could give me his email? Did he charge for his service? I've heard some organizations do charge.

Here's an interesting aside: My mom's house has my name on it a co-borrower on the loan and I think the title too.

Due to some scrutiny from certain 3 letter tax agencies (you can probably guess), we thought it would be good to take my name off of it through a quit claim and refinancing in her name only. It's in my birth state.

If I file in my birth state too, couldn't I just add this house to the UCC filing and it be safe from liens or seizure (if things go that far)?

Thanks!

p.s. How fast did you get the copies and filing verification back from the court clerk's office?
