Re:Foreclosed Property
There appears to be 8 Bureau of Land Management Offices in Alaska, Cali, Colorado, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon and Wyoming but they are all for western states lands.
Are you sure this is the correct office to inquire about Land Patents?

Re:Foreclosed Property
Ntellect,
How about you just go down to the courthouse and look up the deed on your property. And go all the way back to the 1700s--you will be amazed! It should have a deed for every owner and the description of the property. In fact, you may find that you have more or less land than orignally described. Go do the research and have fun.

Re:Foreclosed Property
I found my land patent by going down to my local court house and going through all of the old books.& I did find it fun, kind of like a history lesson.& Anyway, the ladies there were very helpfull.& I simply told them that I would like to find the original patent for the land that I currently own and they helped me through the steps.
I remember reading somewhere to be sure and ammend the documents that you are going to file to only include the legal description of the land that you own.& I am sure that it is in the downloads section of the forum.

Re:Foreclosed Property
Thanks Ice and Montana for the very valuable information. Like I said, unfortunately I'm having to learn as I go and I didn't get a hold of this information until my back was against the wall.
I have been on other websites and with other organizations (which I won't name) who "claim" they are about FREEDOM for the people but I guess like everything else, even FREEDOM has a financial price. The problem is that there are many individuals like myself who are deligently seeking it and educating themselves to fight for it but yet can't afford the price of FREEDOM right now. So those "other" organizations leave you out in the cold.
Thank you very much. I'm off to due some digging today.
Peace and Blessings to you all.

Re:Foreclosed Property
The BLM located in VA is the one you want.& I had their address at one time but cannot locate it... I'll keep looking for it.
If you look at the "abstract" of your property you may see a notation at the bottom of the page that reads "patent".& If you see that then you're on your way.& But the abstract should contain all the records all the way back to the land patent.& I have seen very few cases that didn't.

Re:Foreclosed Property
Ice & Montana,
I just went down to the Dekalb County Court House, which is the county I live in and got the run around. Nobody knows anything. Typical for Georgians.
I spent over two hours running around from office to office and I'm still stuck where I started.
I went to both the Civil and Real Esate office only to be referred to the Land Development dept which sounded right but they "claimed" that they didn't have any records of land patents although they had heard of the term being used before.
They even had the nerve to tell me to call Atlanta's or Dekalb County's historical society to see if they would know where to find the info.
Montana, you said you found your info on your land patent in some books at the court house. What books are you referring to?
I told you guys Georgia is still operating in the "twilight" zone.
Frustrated

Re:Foreclosed Property
Go&to the "Recorder of Deeds" and ask to see the "Abstract" for your property.& The abstract will list every owner before you... right back to the Land Patent.
If it doesn't, then you will have to get in contact with the BLM.
