Bush is apparently forcing US Attorneys to resign all over the USA and then using provision in the Patriot Act to to reappoint new ones and get this, BECAUSE OF A PATRIOT ACT PROVISION THEY WILL NOT HAVE TO GO THROUGH CONFIRMATION after 120 days BY THE SENATE..(WHAT??! THE FRICK??!) Watched the news a little off and on and 'All-Spin-Zone' O'Rilley tonight and not one single mention of this. I Would really like to hear others opinions of this move especially those with lots of government savvy.. Isn't this a prime example of the Executive Branch taking over the Judicial Branch by doing an end run around the Legislative??!! Don't they all check and balance each other to keep things from getting too corrupt? What the heck is going on?!!
Link goes to video of Feinstien on Senate floor addressing this and also has transcript. She is trying to introduce a bill to require senate confirmation for the new US Attorneys. Funny thing is she voted YEA to reauthorize/reinstate the Patriot Act. Whoops. Wish they would read those things and pass them by a constitution scholar before voting on them. Whatever happened to the damn thing sunsetting or whatever.
I don't know that much about government process but this video scares me. Why isn't this on the news??!! That is the scariest thing.
