The door hinges and the fireplace and the cabin roof were just incredible. Also the way he notched out the logs for the cabin walls. No power tools. Just amazing to me. You would think it would be hard to survive there but he thrived there.

Notice how the US Govt. made it all into a park (Carter Administration). At the beginning of the video, he has a gold pan on his back. Wonder if that was his little secret. Those mountain streams they show in the video had to bring down some alluvial gold nuggets. How cool would it be to live there and go out gold prospecting to pay for your supplies! Can you imagine! Oh yeah and don't forget the Alaska Pipeline payment you get every year for living there.
