the home / splash page was replaced / hacked.. which means they had the password to the html files on the server that hosts this site..
change the attached files suffix to .html to recreate the page

Yea, most likely either a brute force attack (password generator) or buffer overflow exploit.
Using a ~, ^, / or _ in your password makes any brute force attack nearly impossible and at the least, impractical, due to the order of magnitude increase in the amount of time required to enter the correct key.

Yeah that's my fault HB...
There's some unusual hex coding in the text file... and I had second thoughts on posting it, as it may send info back to the creator
